Education Development Office, Dublin, Ireland

The Education Development Office is an educational support service. It seeks to promote innovation and creativity in thought and practice within adult and community education centres and in the 27 schools and other projects within the Presentation South Eastern Province.

Services:

  • Design and deliver in-career development at community and adult education levels and at primary, post-primary levels
  • Develop and nurture a partnership model in which all stakeholders and actors in education in its broadest, most inclusive, sense come together in a ‘joined up’ approach to address the educational needs of the community
  • Promote equality and inclusivity for all learners within the province, especially for those who are disadvantaged and marginalized, for whatever reason
  • Work to combat educational disadvantage
  • Enable adult and community centres to address issues of human rights, interculturalism, justice, right relationships and care of the earth
  • Manage, advise and support adult and community centres as well as out-of-school and educational support projects
  • Influence policy and bring about change through best practice

Clients:

Adult and community education tutors who work to raise the competence, capacity and self-esteem of adults, especially parents.

Stockholm Education Administration, Sweden

The Education Administration consists of about 4 000 people whose job is to pave the way for as many Stockholmers as possible, old and young, to be provided with the best possible learning opportunities. The task have been given by the Stockholm City Council.

Services:

The Administration is responsible for three principle areas. Its own core operations include the administration and development of all of the cities municipal compulsory and upper secondary schools and adult education programmes.

The Education Administration also has responsibility for certain operations that encompass the whole city. Everybody who so wishes may attend home language classes and all pupils may look after their health via the school health service. Pupils, who for some reason have difficulty in keeping up with the teaching, are provided with individual solutions through pupil support. The Administration also have the overall responsibility for the setting of goals and following up and evaluating schooling in Stockholm.

The Warrenmount Centre aim to meet the needs of the local community by creating opportunities, building confidence and developing skills.
